CREAMY BUTTER TOFU CURRY RECIPE: TOFU WITH A TWIST
This amazing butter tofu recipe is the perfect dish that will make you experience a restaurant like quality food at home.
This delectable butter tofu recipe will make your heart as well as your tummy extra happy. So, if you want that, then you know what to do. (*whispering* try out the recipe 😉)
Ingredients:
1. Tofu: 200 gms (2 pieces)
2. Butter: 3 tablespoon
3. Oil: 3-4 tablespoon
4. Onions: 4, roughly chopped
5. Tomatoes: 200 gms, roughly chopped
6. Cumin Seeds: 1 tablespoon
7. Fresh Cream: 2 tablespoon
8. Kasoori Methi: 2 tablespoon
9. Ginger: 25 gms, roughly chopped
10. Garlic: 1 bulb, large sized
11. Cashew Nuts or Peanuts: 12-15
12. Turmeric Powder: 1 teaspoon
13. Cumin Powder: 1 teaspoon
14. Coriander Powder: 1 teaspoon
15. Garam Masala: 1 tablespoon
16. Chilli Powder: as per taste
17. Salt: as per taste
18. Coriander Leaves
Method:
Step 1:
Start off the tofu recipe by marinating the tofu with a pinch of salt, turmeric and chilli powder. Mix it well and keep it aside for a while. Heat the oil in a pressure cooker and add cumin seeds.
After the cumin seeds start to crackle, add onions and give it a good mix for a minute. Then add the tomatoes, ginger, garlic, cashew nuts or peanuts, turmeric, cumin and chilli powder, topping it with salt as per taste.
Step 2:
Keep mixing these ingredients for a minute on medium flame. Now cover the lid of the pressure cooker and leave the mixture up until 3-4 whistles. After the whistles go off, firstly, turn off the gas, then open the lid and mix the ingredients and leave it aside for it to cool down.
Step 3:
Now after the mixture is cooled down, pour it into the grinder and grind the ingredients until it is finely minced. Pour this mixture into a bowl if you want and put it aside. Now take the kasoori methi and put it in the microwave for 5 seconds to make it crispy, after that's done, keep this aside as well.
Step 4:
Heat the pan and add 2 tablespoon of butter on low flame. After the butter is melted, add the marinated tofu and toss it lightly on medium flame.
When there is a slight change in the colour of the tofu, pour in the finely minced grinded ingredients mentioned above. Mix these ingredients for a minute then add some garam masala into it.
Now take the microwaved kasoori methi and rub it between your palms as you add it to the tofu recipe in the pan. Stir it well and finally add the remaining 1 tablespoon butter into the dish.
Step 5:
The butter is immediately melted. Now pour fresh cream over the dish, stir it well and turn off the gas. Finally, use coriander leaves to garnish the dish.
There you have it folks, your tasty butter tofu recipe is now ready.
You can enjoy this tofu recipe with either rice, paratha or even naan.
Bonus Tips:
1. You can use the same recipe, but replace the tofu with either boiled eggs (preferably fried boiled eggs), paneer or even some delicious chicken tikkas. It's completely your call as to how you would want to relish it.
2. Make sure you pour the butter, keeping the gas on low flame. The butter should not get burnt.
3. For garnishing, you can use mint leaves as well.
