I have been wanting to post this recipe ever since I started my blog. Momos have been my ultimate favourite ever since my childhood days.
You know as nepalese, we always have this everlasting yearning for momos.
So, today's nepali vegetable momo recipe is for all those people who love and live momos.
It took me a while to actually perfect this nepali vegetable momo recipe.
This nepali vegetable momo recipe is extremely juicy because of the paneer and amazingly flavourful because of the mixed vegetables.
As we all know, momos are like the unofficial national food of Nepal. It's like if you are nepalese, you have to like momos.
So, like a normal nepalese household, we are just the same.
During parties and family functions, I always try and make sure that I at least serve momos as a snack or an appetizer.
This nepali vegetable momo recipe is perfect for that, majorly because it is vegetarian so everybody can enjoy it without any hesitation.
These momos are a great party starter and appetizer, equally perfect for evening snacks as well.
Try this nepali vegetable momo recipe and share with us your momo experience.
Ingredients:
1. Atta or Maida (flour): 1.5 kg
2. Onions: 7, big sized, finely chopped
3. Soya Chunks: 100 gms
4. Cabbage: 1/2 kg, grated
5. Paneer (Cottage Cheese): 100 gms, grated
6. Radish: 400 gms, grated
7. Green Onion: 150 gms, finely chopped
8. Coriander Leaves: 100 gms, finely chopped
9. Ginger Paste: 2 tablespoon
10. Garlic Paste (optional): 2 tablespoon
11. Oil: 1/2 cup
12. Salt: as per taste
Juicy Paneer Momo Recipe
Method:
Step 1:
Start off this juicy paneer momo recipe by preparing the perfect dough.
To prepare a dough, combine the flour and some salt together.
Add in small quantity of water at a time and mix the flour and salt, forming a soft dough.
Once the dough is prepared, cover it and keep it aside for a while.
Step 2: (Filling)
Soak the soya chunks in warm water for 6-7 minutes.
Squeeze out its excess water and grind it in the mixer.
After it is done keep it aside in a bowl.
Step 3:
Grate the radish first and put it aside in a bowl.
Now, go ahead and grate the cabbage and paneer.
Step 4:
Take a big bowl and add in the grinded soya chunks, grated cabbage and paneer.
Add in the chopped onions, green onions and coriander leaves as well.
Step 5:
Now, go back to the radish and squeeze out its excess water thoroughly.
After this, add the radish into the big bowl.
Step 6:
Take the big bowl of ingredients and add some salt, ginger and garlic paste.
Warm some oil in a pan and add this into the bowl.
Now, finally mix all these ingredients thoroughly.
Your mixture will look something like this:
Step 7:
Now, start shaping the momos.
Divide the dough into small balls of equal size and roll them into a circle as thin as possible with the help of rolling pin.
Fill the centre of the circle with the vegetable filling .
Wrap the circle by bringing the edges together and secure them to make the perfect momos.
Repeat the process with the remaining dough.
Step 8:
Make sure you oil the base of the steamer using cotton or oil brush so that the momos do not stick and break.
Tranfer your momos into the steamer and leave them for around 15 minutes.
Your juicy paneer momo recipe is now ready.
Serve your piping hot momos with spicy chutney and enjoy this amazing delicacy.
Bonus Tips:
1. You can even add some carrots and peas into the filling if you wish.
2. You can also add soya sauce in the filling for some extra flavour and colouring. You can add 3-4 tablespoon of soya sauce.
