Crispy Bitter Gourd Recipe- Fried Karela Recipe

This crispy bitter gourd recipe is always my go to whenever I want to have a fun dish out on my table. 

This is such an easy recipe to make especially when you are a bit short on time.

Ingredients


1. Bitter Gourd: 250 gms, thinly sliced
2.  Oil (For Deep Frying) 
3. Gram Flour: 4-5 tablespoon 
4. Corn Flour: 1 tablespoon
5. Rice Flour (optional): 1 tablespoon
6. Sesame Seeds: 1 tablespoon
7. Chilli Powder: 1 tablespoon
8. Turmeric Powder: 1/2 teaspoon
9. Ginger and Garlic Paste: 1/2 tablespoon each
10. Aamchur Powder or Chat Masala: 1 and half teaspoon
11. Salt: as per taste

Method


Step 1: 


Start off this bitter gourd recipe by preparing the bitter gourd first. To do that, get a bowl, take the thinly sliced bitter gourd and add some salt, mix it well and keep it for 15 minutes. 

Step 2:


Now, mix the bitter gourd for a minute and then add some water. Then, squeeze the bitter gourd to discard the excess water and make it completely dry. 

Step 3:


Now, take the dried bitter gourd and add in gram flour, corn flour, rice flour, sesame seeds, chilli and turmeric powder, ginger and garlic paste, chat masala and mix everything well. Top it off with a pinch of salt. 

Step 4:


Heat the oil in a pan and deep fry the bitter gourd. After its done, drain the bitter gourd and put in a bowl with tissue papers. 


This bitter gourd recipe is now ready to be served. 


Bonus Tips:


1. Use tissue papers to soak the excess oil from the fried bitter gourd.


2. Rice flour is optional however, I use it to get some extra crunch in the bitter gourd.
