I remember in one of the family gatherings, I had made this exact dish and most of my family members could not resist asking for the recipe.

Ingredients:

1. Mutton: 1 kg

2. Oil

3. Onion: 4, big sized, puree

4. Tomato: 200 gms, puree

5. Mixed Masala:
    - Posta Dana (Poppy Seeds): 3 tablespoon
    - Green Chilli: as per taste
    - Garlic: 1 bulb
    - Ginger: 2 inches
    - Cumin Seed: 1 teaspoon
    - Coriander Seed: 1 and half teaspoon

6. Chilli Powder: as per taste

7. Turmeric Powder

8. Garam Masala: 1/2 teaspoon

9. Sugar: 1/2 teaspoon (optional)

10. Green Chilli

11. Cloves

12. Salt: as per taste

13. Coriander Leaves


Method:

Step 1:

Start off this spicy mutton recipe, by grinding the mixed masala in the mixer until it is finely minced. 

Make sure you wash the mutton as well. 

Take few pieces of green chilli and insert one clove each in the chilli. * shown in the picture below*
 
Step 2:

Heat the oil in a pressure cooker on medium flame and add sugar. Once the red bubbles start to emerge, add the onion puree and mix it for 7-8 minutes. 

Step 3:

Once the puree turns golden, add the grinded mixed masala and cook it for 5 minutes. 

Step 4:

Now, pour the tomoto puree and add turmeric and chilli powder with salt. Mix and cook for 3-4 minutes with open lid. 

Step 5:

Add the mutton and mix/cook everything for 8-10 minutes on medium flame. 

Now, pour in 1 and half cup of water, close the lid and cook it until the mutton gets tender and finely cooked. 

Step 6:

Open the lid and check whether the mutton is cooked or not. If cooked, stir it well and then add the garam masala, fresh coriander leaves and green chilli with cloves. 

Add water according to your preferred gravy consistency. On an open lid, boil everything and pour the recipe on a bowl. 

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

There you have it folks, this scrumptious dish is now ready to be served. 

You can enjoy this mutton recipe with basmati rice, lacchha paratha and naan.
